THE STORY BEHIND THE SPRING CREEK CRICKET CLUB

The Spring Creek Cricket Club came into existence due to the dissolution of the Grassmere Cricket Association following the 2020/2021 cricket season. The Woolsthorpe Warriors Cricket Club and the Mailors Flat Jets Cricket clubs, which had previously competed against each other as separate entities, joined forces to create the Woolsthorpe/Mailors Flat Cricket Club for their final season. As both clubs lacked senior players and a junior program, they decided to merge and apply to join the nearby Warrnambool District Cricket Association (WDCA), which they succeeded in doing after a few failed attempts.

The establishment of the Spring Creek Cricket Club has been a significant achievement for the communities of Woolsthorpe, Winslow, and Mailors Flat, as it provides an opportunity for members to continue playing cricket and participating in a team and social environment. The club is currently in an excellent position on the field, fielding two teams in the WDCA (Division 3 and Division 4) with enough players each week to consider forming a third senior team next year. Moreover, the club's junior section has 30 players registered, with two teams competing in the WDCA Under 13 and Under 11 competitions and a thriving Woolworths Blasters program.

WHY SUPPORT THE SPRING CREEK CRICKET CLUB?

The Spring Creek Cricket Club is aiming to raise funds to establish a strong financial position for the club's future. The goal of this campaign is to create a solid foundation for the club to launch as a new entity while having the financial means to upgrade facilities and support the growth of junior and women's cricket in the Woolsthorpe, Winslow, and Mailors Flat communities.

To achieve these objectives, the Foundation Membership drive will raise funds for various projects, including:

  • Subsidized programs to enable boys and girls to participate in the junior cricket program and promote its growth and success.
  • Equipment provision to support the establishment and subsidization of a women's and girls' team.
  • Minor and major development works at the Woolsthorpe and Winslow Recreation Reserves, such as new cricket nets, upgraded training facilities, fencing around the oval/s, and realigning the cricket wickets from East/West to North/South.
  • Purchase of equipment to support the development of both junior and senior teams.
  • Improvement of the supporter experience at both clubs by creating shaded areas, upgrading kitchen and bathroom facilities.

However, it's important to note that the funds raised won't be used exclusively for the aforementioned projects. Also, no money collected through this initiative will go towards paying senior coaches or any players.

HOW WILL I BE RECOGNISED AS A SPRING CREEK CRICKET CLUB FOUNDATION MEMBER?

The Spring Creek Cricket Club will acknowledge and appreciate the contribution of its Foundation Members in the following ways:

  • A plaque will be placed next to or within the project being completed at the respective recreation reserve. The plaque will serve as a recognition for all members of the community who have supported the 'Foundation Members' Fund.
  • The Club will also acknowledge Foundation Members on its Facebook social media page and in the Annual Report after the project is completed.
  • Foundation Members will receive a small token of appreciation, such as a stubby holder.
  • The Club is open to discussing other appropriate ways to recognize generous donations by Foundation Members.

TIERS OF SPONSORSHIP AS A SPRING CREEK STRIKERS FOUNDATION MEMBER.

The Club is currently accepting three different levels of sponsorship and will provide acknowledgment for each one. These levels are Gold Member for donations of $1,000 or more, Silver Member for donations between $500 and $999, and Strikers Member for donations between $100 and $499.

All members, regardless of their donation level, will be recognized as a 'Strikers Member' on plaques that will be placed at Woolsthorpe and Winslow Rec Reserve. In addition to this, their names will also be displayed on the Club's Facebook page and in the Annual Report.

It is important to note that sponsors or partners who have already made a donation to the club will automatically be included in this initiative and will not be expected to make an additional contribution. Each sponsorship initiative is separate, and the names displayed will be clearly identified based on the specific project.

FURTHER NOTES AND CONSIDERATIONS BEFORE JOINING OUR CAUSE

At a future time, a representative from the club will reach out to all donors to confirm the exact wording they want on the plaques.

This sponsorship initiative is being managed by the Australian Sports Foundation, which means that all donations made are eligible for tax deductions. If you plan on making a larger donation, we recommend that you consult with your accountant for more information.
