SYDNEY SPIRIT were very excited last year when we won both our events at the 2023 AusDBF National Championships to qualify for the IDBF Club Crew World Championships at Ravenna, Italy in September 2024.

Since qualifying we have continued our commitment to being competitive and to training hard, and so far have won every event we have entered, including at the 2024 Sydney Lunar New Year Dragon Boat Festival at Darling Harbour in February and at the AusDBF 2024 National Championships in Perth in April.

Competition in Ravenna will be strong. So far 14 teams from 9 countries have registered in our category. We will be racing in 200m, 500m and 2KM events.

We are seeking donations to assist in meeting the travel costs, regatta fees, uniforms and equipment for our BCS paddlers, for both the Ravenna event and future State and National regattas that we will be competing in during the 2024-25 season.

We have a wonderful level of camaraderie within the club and truly cherish our teammates who include people who have had breast cancer as well as those who are currently living with incurable breast cancer. To this end, SYDNEY SPIRIT members are living proof that training and treatment can sustain an excellent quality of life, even in people for whom a cure is not an option.
