My name is Tahnysha and I am 15 years old. I have been training at Australian Shukokai Karate for the past 9 years and I am currently a 1st Dan Shodan (Black Belt). I have been a member of the Victorian State Team for 6 years and the Australian National Squad for 5 years.
I am the current Australian Open Karate Champion in Kumite Female Cadet -54kgs, winning the title in 2021 and 2022. This year I was selected to represent Australia at the Oceania Championships in New Caledonia where I won a Bronze medal in my individual event and Silver medal in my team event. Currently I am 23rd in the World Karate Federation rankings for Kumite Female Cadet -54kgs.
Representing Australia at the upcoming Commonwealth Karate Championships would be a dream come true. Unfortunately, Karate does not receive any funding and all athletes are required to fund themselves for all State, National and International competitions. Therefore, I am trying to fundraise to cover costs of travel, accommodation and tournament entry fees which is approximately $5000. I greatly appreciate any assistance you can offer.
