A Legacy of Football: Why This Trip Means So Much

Football isn’t just a sport for Taj - it’s a family legacy. Growing up in a football-loving family, Taj has always been surrounded by the game. His journey started early, kicking a ball as soon as he could walk. Now, at 15, he’s been given the opportunity of a lifetime: to represent Australia in the Australian Schools U16s Football Team on a tour of the UK and Ireland in January 2025. This experience will allow Taj to train with top professionals, compete against elite teams, and gain the international exposure needed to take his game to the next level.

Taj's love for football runs deep in his family. His parents, Julie and Jason, both played at Park Ridge FC from a young age, with Jason coaching teams and Julie traveling overseas for futsal. Taj’s nana and great grandmother are amongst his biggest fans and instilled in him the love for the game, constantly supporting him at countless matches and tournaments. This strong family support has helped Taj achieve incredible milestones, and now they’re all rallying behind him as he takes this next big step. This trip to the UK and Ireland is more than just a tour - it’s the next chapter in a family’s football story, and they’re hoping the community will join them in making it a reality.

The tour comes with significant costs, totalling over $11,000 alone just for flights, accommodation, some meals, and training gear. On top of that there's insurance, spending money, match tickets, and additional excursions and meals. While Taj’s family has supported him every step of the way, they need your help to make this dream a reality.

Taj's Journey So Far

• Started his football journey at Park Ridge FC, moving to Logan Lightning, and later representing Queensland in the U15 National Youth Championships.
• Selected for the U16 All Australian Team after a standout performance in the National U16 School Boys Championships, where he was awarded Players’ Player and Player of the Match.
• Debuted in senior men's football at 15 years old for Logan Lightning FC and played up in U18 and senior teams this season.
• Recently trained and played with the FC Malaga Academy in Spain, selected as one of five boys to represent Pure Soccer.
• Attends Marsden SHS & is in the football program.
• Continually committed to his growth, working with a physio, dietician, and strength coach to be the best athlete he can be.
