My name is Tegan Forrest, I am 20 years old. I have been doing karate for 13 years. A sport that requires a lot of hard work; karate training 4 days a week with gym and pilates sessions as well. Life gets very busy when also juggling my study commitments.

My parents have spent a lot of time and money over the years helping to financially support me to get to tournaments over east. Now, getting older, finding time for work to financially support myself is also becoming difficult. I am now at the stage of my karate career, that international tournaments and travel is now an opportunity for me. This year competing in my first tournament where I got the honour of representing my country at the Oceania Championships. Which I now have just been selected for the Commonwealth Karate Championships, University world cup and Junior World Karate Championships. Tournaments I have always dreamed about competing in.

Having the opportunity to get funding through the Australian Sports Foundation, can help cover the costs for travelling and training to help me gain great experiences. Any support is much appreciated.
