Raising funds to assist the members of the Youth Keelboat development program with the costs of receiving the best possible training support and competing in targeted events in Queensland and inter-state.

The MYC’s youth squad program was established in 2013 when four Elliott 6s were made available in Mooloolaba for youth training. Since then the club has purchased the boats and established an on-going program with the support of Maroochy Sailing Club and Noosa Yacht & Rowing Club.

In 2016 the program has established a system for FI/FO coaches to support the squad at their monthly training clinics and at targeted events. As the program grows the senior members of the squad will be trained to take on assistant coach roles so that they can support the squad when the FI/FO coaches are not available.

The squad is growing with 15 youth involved to date and with a small group of female sailors invited to join in as well.

Skill development is focused on boat handling for keel boats before moving the youth into developing match racing skills and confidence.
