Our motto, “Stronger Together,” embodies our mission to foster unity and progress through rugby league. As Australia’s oldest provincial rugby league club, founded in 1908, we have been instrumental in the development of numerous elite athletes and are committed to leveraging the sport for community well-being and empowerment.

Female Participation: We support the rapid growth of women's rugby league, fielding U17, U19, and Opens female teams that serve as a pathway to the NRLW. The sport has surged in popularity, and female participation has risen by 53.2% nationally in 2024. Tweed Seagulls has expanded from 4 male and 1 female team to 3 male and 3 female teams in just three years, reflecting this exciting trend.

Indigenous & Cultural Recognition: Recognising the significant role rugby league plays in Indigenous communities of the Northern Rivers of NSW and the Gold Coast, 14.5% of our players identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander—surpassing the national average of 12%. We are committed to using rugby league to promote reconciliation and respect for Indigenous cultures. This underscores the sport's profound importance in our region, especially considering Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders constitute only 3.2% of the overall Australian population. Our initiatives include:

  • Collaborations with the Jubullum Village community and Tabulam Public School.
  • The Tweed Seagulls Indigenous Rugby League Program.
  • Support for programs by PCYC and RedINC.
  • Celebrations of Indigenous Round with a unique jersey, Indigenous dancers, and a Welcome to Country ceremony.
  • Annual Cultural Awareness training for staff and players.

Well-being support for Players and Community Clubs: We prioritise the well-being of our players and staff through robust support and educational programs. We aim to extend our impact by developing resources for community clubs, which are often volunteer-run and may lack the capacity to manage complex issues. Our annual workshops cover mental health, social inclusion, anti-vilification, drug and alcohol awareness, anti-domestic violence, personal branding, social media, and storytelling. These efforts ensure a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all.

Join Us in Making a Difference: To continue delivering these essential community programs, we need your support. By championing the Tweed Seagulls Community Outreach Programs, you're not only providing opportunities for our talented young athletes but also uplifting under-resourced and underserved areas of our community. Our theme, “Stronger Together,” embodies our commitment to unity and progress. Your support will directly contribute to measurable, positive outcomes, and as a supporter, you will witness firsthand the powerful impact of our collective efforts. Join us in creating a stronger, more connected community—your involvement is key to our success!
