About the project

We are very excited to announce a new partnership between Australian Perth based national team, the Velofit Australia Racing Team and Global Cycling Movements (GCM). The new arrangement will facilitate the opportunity for two female cyclists from Western Australia to represent Velofit Australia Racing Team in 2022. This opportunity will also give the riders the opportunity to race alongside Luxemburg-based Andy Schleck - CP NVST - Immo Losch professional cycling team on the UCI European racing circuit.

“GCM will assist and support these two female cyclists in their European campaign, also with this opportunity we hope to find new talent for the Andy Schleck-CP NVST-Immo Losch UCI Women’s Continental Team” - Tjarco Cuppens, owner GCM and Andy Schleck-CP NVST-Immo Losch Team Director.

"We are very excited about making this happen for two very talented and committed young women" - Matt Upton, Velofit Team Director.

The two West Australian female riders have been selected to travel to Europe in mid-2022 are Darcie Richards and Kate Bonner.

The opportunity will provide valuable insight and experience into professional racing, and the first time that West Australian based women to race in Europe for over four years, other than Bike Exchange professional rider Jessica Allen. On their return, they would look forward to passing on their experience and skills they develop in Europe to young male and female riders looking to pursue a future in the sport. The two riders will be supported by our sponsorship and fundraising team in Perth.
