​The Wangaratta Hockey Club has been around since 1907 and until recently has always played and trained on a grass field. In the season of 2021 a local college completed the construction of a synthetic hockey field and was kind enough to allow us to use the field as our home base.

Whilst we are eternally grateful for Cathedral College allowing us to use their field, we need lighting around the field. As hockey is predominantly a winter sport, with the sun setting early in the evening, lack of lighting makes it difficult and dangerous to train.​

​

Several of our junior games are also played in the evening which means traveling up to an hour, each way, and sometimes longer ​for many of our parents, every week. With lighting at the field it would mean that this trip wouldn't be every week.

​

In the off season we participate in a twilight competition also and the lights would assist greatly in holding local ​competitions also, allowing more community involvement.
