Kids need green space.
The growing evidence supports what teachers have known for a long time – that ‘grassrooms’ play an important role in developing motor skills and improving emotional and social skills.

The West End State School (WESS) oval is a vital space for the 850 students who attend the school. It’s a space for running, playing, building, imagining, and enjoying the sunshine.
After years of heavy South East Queensland weather and 100s of feet trampling the ground every school day, the WESS oval is in dire need for an upgrade.

Your support will directly go towards the costs of the oval upgrade and maintanence.

The Project
In 2018, WESS P&C and the School Management plan to completely refurbish the school sporting oval to return the oval to a prestine and safe recreational and sporting facility.
This refurbishment will include:

  • levelling the oval to address the overall slope
  • filling in pot holes and ditches
  • improving irrigation and drainage to prevent future holes
  • placing the water tanks underground to create more space
  • returfing the surface with a more resilient turf
  • ongoing maintanence for at least 1 year to ensure the oval is bedded

What we are seeking
We are seeking financial support to assist WESS resurface the oval to remove unsafe lumps and bumps, plant more resilient turf, and improve the irrigation.
The total cost of the oval upgrade is $300,000 which we aim to generate through donations, fundraising, and sponsorship.

Please make a tax deductible donation today and help us update our school oval!
