About the project

Western Districts Netball Association was established in 1974 to 'promote, foster and encourage the game of netball'. We are a not for profit group based in the Western Suburbs of Brisbane and support participation in sport for girls and women. We provide a range of competitive and social competitions for players from 5 years to adults (our oldest player, Bobbi, retired recently at the age of 72). We cater for players of all age, ability and fitness.

Our Association has a rich history and, for 46 years, has been an integral part of the local community. However, like so many community groups, the impact of the Coronavirus has been significant and greatly affected our normal revenue streams. In an effort to make participation in sport as affordable as possible for our members, we cut our registration and other fees by more than 80%. With the hard work of Association and Club volunteers, we were able to provide a shortened season for our members and a development program for our Representative players, but all facility development has been put on hold.

Now, more than ever, your Association needs your support to ensure our facilities and programs meet the needs of our clubs, members and volunteers.

We will continue to provide programs and competitions thanks to the dedication and many hours of time provided by Club and Association volunteers. This new fund has been set up to become the philanthropic arm of the Association and to assist in fundraising for facility development and maintenance projects via tax deductible donations.

Your generosity will make a significant difference to Wests and will ensure we can provide quality facilities to our 2600 members and their families. All donations, no matter the amount, will be gratefully received and put to use to keep Wests the best Association in Queensland.

Your donation over $2 through the Australian Sports Foundation is tax deductible.

When we converted our old garage into our new coffee area, our maintenance equipment lost its home. The ride-on mower, court line marker whipper snipper and various tools have all been crammed into our existing shed. Unfortunately, this has made it very hard to access the training and game-day equipment that is stored in the shed by the Association and Clubs. Getting to post pads, NetSetGo hoops and court squeegees on game day is making volunteers' work harder than it needs to be! With your support, Wests will be building a shed dedicated to maintenance equipment and the Association trailer. This will make more room in the existing shed for the important stuff - all the netball related equipment needed for us to train for, and play, the sport we love.

Stay up to date with everything happening at the sports foundation
