About the project
The Wheelaroos are heading to the United Kingdom in 2022 to represent Australia at the Rugby League World Cup.
We are asking the Australian community to get behind our national WRL team, by providing funds for it to train together, travel and compete in the UK in 2022.
Where will the funds go?
The funds will go towards the following expenses associated with Australia’s representative team including high performance training, travelling within the UK and participating in the 2022 Rugby League World Cup:
Phase One: High Performance Training
Undertaking a high-performance training program in the lead up to the world cup trip
Specialised transport assistance to representative players from around Australia
Providing uniforms for representative players
Specialised accommodation for representative players
Phase Two: At the World Cup
Airfares, Accommodation, food and specialised transport within the UK
Stopover accommodation – can’t travel full distance
Team training sessions in the weeks prior to and during the competition
Admin, physio and medical support on the ground
Digital media support throughout World Cup competition
Other costs associated with participating on game days
Is Australia ready?
Yes, Australia’s Wheelchair Rugby League players are among the best in the world. Like our NRL counterparts in the ‘running game’, our wheelchair athletes are match-fit and regularly challenged in top-draw competitions within Australia.
We do need more help to keep our competitions well resourced, expand the following of Wheelchair Rugby League and train our best team for the world stage.
Can you help?
Your donation can help support the Wheelchair Rugby League Australia’s World Cup Campaign. Through our fundraising partnership with the Australian Sports Foundation, donations of $2 or more are tax deductible.
Note: The Rugby League World Cup was to be held in 2021 but due to the impact of Covid-19 the tournament has been postponed to 2022.
