The Woden Blues AFNC aims to improve and raise awareness of mental health in our club and in our local community.

We believe that mental health has a stigma of a “chemical imbalance” – however, we are aiming to promote that there are so many different forms of mental health – and that it can differ with gender, age, background and beliefs – just to name a few. 

We have created a program in alignment with Lifeline Canberra and look forward to working with them to actively look after our players, promote further mental health awareness and connect with local businesses and the local community. We will achieve this through initiatives such as an annual ‘Lifeline Canberra Cup’ to raise funds and awareness for Lifeline Canberra, a welfare evening, with guest speakers from Lifeline Canberra, the Healthy Eating Hub and a motivational speaker to challenge participants to open up – and share their learnings. In addition, vouchers, gift certificates, and discounts to local businesses to support player welfare, and challenge players to support local businesses and talk to friends and family about any challenges in life or to check in on a friend. 

This is a program that the Woden Blues AFNC is proud to launch, and further show that mental health is not something that should ever be ‘swept under the carpet’.
