WBC Champion and Anti-Bullying Ambassador, Charlie "The Hammer” Hall (CTH), stands for Equality For All. Charlie strives to make a difference in people's lives by bringing kindness, peace and hope for today and a better tomorrow. Charlie is supporting World Gay Boxing Championships (WGBC) disrupt homophobia and transphobia enabling everyone to compete in boxing in a friendly and welcoming environment.

Special Message from Charlie: https://youtu.be/wamMzpGOATE

Nelson Mandela said: “Sport has the power to change the world. It has the power to inspire. It has the power to unite people in a way that little else does."

We agree, however, LGBTQIA+ representation in sport is still the exception and not the rule. 80% of people have experienced or witnessed homophobia on the sporting field. LGBTQIA+ people participate in sport at half the rate of straight people and are more likely to attempt suicide. We want to change this showing boxing and sport are for everyone!

We are holding the world's first boxing championships for the LGBTQIA+ community and allies taking place from 18-22 February 2023 in Sydney coinciding with Mardi Gras and World Pride. We need your help to make it happen by getting active and most importantly having lots of fun!

What is the WGBC 2023 Jabs For Equality?

It's an interactive event where you participate in shadow boxing for 14 days doing at least 2023 non-combative punches recording your efforts and posting on social media.

What is shadow boxing?

Shadow boxing is a sneaky killer cardio workout burning upwards of 400 calories per hour. It involves moving around by yourself and throwing punches in the air with no bag, pad or opponent. All you need is an imagination and best of all it can be done anywhere, anytime for a quick and heart-pumping session.

Charlie likes an 8 punch combination using the combo 18 times totalling 144 punches for the day. You can do 144 punches for 13 days and then 151 on Day 14. You can do it your way - use your imagination and have fun!

Why Boxing?

Boxing has been practised since before the time of ancient Greece and the original Olympics. But more recently over the past decade or so, boxing has emerged as a popular whole body workout because it’s fun, enjoyable, and improves overall health and wellness. Boxing provides an array of psychological benefits including stress relief, boosting confidence and building camaraderie and team spirit.

Who are WGBC?

We are a Not-For-Profit committed to increasing LGBTQIA+ inclusion and participation in boxing. We are disrupting homophobia and transphobia in sport enabling everyone to compete in a friendly and welcoming environment. We are supported by Boxing Australia, Boxing NSW with endorsements from WBC, WBA, WBO and IBO and championships aligned with International Boxing Association (IBA) rules. We are an inclusive organisation with safe participation our number one priority.
