IQ Foil European Championships

IQ Foil European Championships

Wind foiling is the new super-fast sailing event where our windsurfing boards fly out of the water at speeds of 25 knots. Here is a link to show you what it is all about. https://youtu.be/G6SvPEVdKjg

In 2022 I represented Australia at the ISAF Youth World Sailing Championships, at The Hague in the Netherlands.

This year I am the 2023 National IQ Foil Youth Champion, and also won Sail Sydney and Sail Melbourne. This is my last year competing in the Youth fleet, where I will compete at the European Championships in Italy and hopefully the Youth World Championships later in the year.

For 2024 I plan to move up to the senior Olympic fleet in IQ Foil and plan to compete at the major European Olympic Sailing events in the lead up to the 2024 Olympic Games.

Prior to racing the IQ Foil, I raced in the Techno windsurfing class, winning Sail Sydney in 2021 (beating the boys to finish 1st overall) and 3rd at the 2020 Youth National Championships. I only transitioned full time into the IQ Foil class in July 2021, there is still a lot to learn.

My sailing career began in Optimists at Sandringham Yacht Club when I was 8. Over the years I have raced the 29er, Techno 293, Techno 293+. I also compete in Schools Teams Racing and I’m Firbank’s Sailing Captain. Our team has won the Victorian State GSV Championships for the last 2 years running, qualifying for the Schools Teams Racing National Championships (cancelled due to COVID last year!). For the last 2 years I have represented my yacht Club in the National Sailing Champions League on the RS21’s qualifying for the Nationals at each event, however we were unable to attend this due to school commitments.

I am a fully qualified dingy and windsurf instructor with Australian Sailing. I’m hoping to raise $10,000 to fund my trip to the Youth World Sailing Championships in the Hague and the International IQ Foil Games in Italy later this year.
