A little bit about me!
Born in London I quickly moved to France where I learned to ski at the age of 2 and nurtured my love for winter sports, pretty sure there isn't an Olympic winter sport I haven't tried. At 9, I left the skiing behind, moving to Australia to live. Tampered here and there in soccer, swimming, and tennis until I came across skating at 16.
From the moment I started, I needed to keep going and skating. I began in skate school as everybody as does, except unlike everybody else that competes, i was starting as an adult and had a lot to catch up on. Within that year I outgrew skate school and was recognised by some of the coaches at the rink. Which is where I introduce my skating coach Adele Morisson, former ice dancer herself she took me on.
She helped me through the next 2 years and notably COVID-19 where no-one in Victoria could skate. My partner and I would be on Zoom calls 4-5 times a week doing conditioning training, as well as going running to avoid insanity. Finally when the ice opened back up was my first competitive season, 2022. We competed at the Victorian State Championships, coming first, as well as Queensland State Championships and qualifying for the Australian National Figure Skating championships where we placed second.
Unfortunately, after nationals, my partner and I split up, because of differences in goals. This prompted a year of un-partnered skating development with my coach, which was more than necessary to consolidate my skating skills.
At the beginning of 2024 I was back on the market to find someone to skate with. Unfortunately, there were no options for me locally and I took to the internet. After a few weeks, I had organised trials in Europe, America and Canada. I was off on a 6-week world tour to find someone to skate with. Luckily in Connecticut, I found a fantastic new partner and coaches in the US.
I start training in America in June, planning to come back to start our competitive season at Victorian States in October and if all goes to plan compete at National and move to represent Australia Internationally.
Why America?
Well, America outside of Russia is the home of ice skating, with rinks everywhere, and internationally renowned skaters and coaches at each one. They can simply provide higher quality and intensity of training, with better access to Ballet instructors, Ballroom teachers and choreographers. It's an obvious choice.
Up to this point, all of my skating has been funded by me, working full-time, on top of part-time University study. Now that I'm going to be overseas, my ability to support myself is minimal, which is why I'm now asking for support.
