The International Indigenous Football Academy (IIFA) in Townsville, QLD were granted $5000 to spend on travel and uniform costs.
The IIFA travelled twice to Brisbane from Townsville for the founder of the IIFA to meet with Council, community stakeholders and the Indigenous Elders who gave their blessing for the football program to be delivered to their people. Uniforms and equipment were purchased to enable on field delivery as well as a mobile phone to allow communications with the IIFA’s new program manager.
The IIFA used part of their funds to establish and build solid relationships with organisations and businesses such as Deadly Choices, North QLD Sport and Recreation and the Department of Juvenile Justice Townsville. These relationships will help to build and develop programs and clinics for the Football Academy and see it to grow in the future.
