Maroochydore State High School

Maroochydore High School partners with other schools in the area and the Salvation Army to deliver a unique alternative curriculum program for 15 disengaged, disadvantaged and at-risk students (5 from each school) in years 8-10. The program supports these students in re-engaging with school or transitioning to work.

The students will participate in: – A 9-week Teens Take Control program, involving martial arts, teambuilding, obstacle courses and archery, whilst teaching discipline, mindset, managing bullies etc, and – A 3-week multi-sport and youth leadership program. This will be facilitated by a female Olympic basketball and volleyball athlete from a disadvantaged background who runs highly successful youth leadership programs for disadvantaged teens. The students will gain a much-needed opportunity to participate in sport
