Pushing Barriers

Pushing Barriers delivers programs to support and empower refugee children through exposure to different sports as well as assisting in the participation of sport through covering registration fees, uniforms, and equipment. Through the Sport4Everyone grant, Pushing Barriers will assist 20 refugee children to get involved in sport in a number of ways:

  • Introducing them to sports played in Australia and helping them to select a sport that will suit them
  • Match children with qualified volunteers who can transport them to and from training and games
  • Identify a suitable club in the local community and assist with club registration process
  • Cover the full cost of registration and kit
  • Assist their families to integrate into the community through engagement in team sport; providing general advice, information and opportunities for social interaction for children and families that are unfamiliar with social, culture and sports practices in Australia
