The Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games is about to commence and 11 team members are seeking tax-deductible donations to help offset their expenses when qualifying for the Australian team.
Australian team members who have registered fundraising projects are;
Track and Field: Beki Smith, Jessica Trengrove, Madeline Hills, Rhydian Cowley, Marty Jackson, Victoria Mitchell
Table Tennis: Barak Mizrachi
Diving: Annabelle Smith
Weightlifting: Stephanie Davies
Swimming: Matt Levy
Wrestling: Connor Evans, Jayden Lawrence
Australian Sports Foundation CEO, Patrick Walker, has urged Australians to dig deep while cheering the Aussies in action through until the Games conclude on April 15.
“These eleven athletes don’t receive vast sums of money via grants and sponsorships to assist them to reach the Gold Coast,” said Mr Walker.
“The stark reality is that many are juggling work commitments with training and competition schedules in a bid to cover training, travel, equipment, coaching and medical costs.
“Unlike our high profile footballers and cricketers, these athletes do it very tough and their personal and financial sacrifices are enormous.
“So I say, be proud of their efforts on the Gold Coast and log onto www.sportsfoundation.org.au”
