Emmie Frederico - Rowing

Background
Emmie Frederico began rowing with her school in 2014, since this time she has rowed with the 9A’s and the 10A’s and this year is rowing with the first VIII at Firbank Grammar Rowing Club. Emmie has been selected to represent Australia in the Junior Women VIII in Lithuania.

Fundraising Need
The seat fee and travel costs for the World Junior Championship was around $8000

Execution
Emmie was unable to host any large fundraiser events or a barbeque as originally planned due to her busy training and school schedule. Instead, Emmie opted for personal communications via email and over the phone. Using our email template, Emmie wrote a personal story about her rowing and how hard she had worked to get to where she is today and detailed what a donation would mean for her rowing journey. Emmie and her family set the fundraising target of $8k and in just a few months Emmie raised $7.6k to fund her rowing journey.

Learnings and Advice

Personalising all emails was considered especially important by Emmie and her family, being honest and explaining how important a donation was to Emmie and for her rowing journey was essential. Another important part of the fundraising journey was to keep the donors and supporters (both financial and non-financial) involved and updated on Emmie’s progress. Both Emmie and her Mum rang every donor to thank them after they made a donation.
