The Power of imagery
31 March 2015
The power of using images should not be underestimated.
- Visual images are processed 60,000 times faster than text
- 10% of people remember what they hear, 20% what they read and 80% of what they see
- Words are processed by our short-term memory where we can only retain about 7 bits of information. Images go directly into long-term memory.
Although quality written text can be persuasive, some well-placed images can take it one step further; creating breaks between text gives people time to stop and think about the points in your story or ask.
We have found this handy link to ‘The Ultimate Guide to Using Images in Social Media‘. Social media can be a powerful tool and images can be key to draw users attention in an information saturated medium. Making sure these images look good in all possible formats is a time-consuming, especially since the content is accessible from a variety of devices. Check out the guide for helpful tips and tricks to make your social media experience easier.
If your ASF project page does not have up to date and relevant images, email your images to firstname.lastname@example.org and get your web page eye catching and driving donors emotions.
