Hello everyone, my name is Darren Hicks and I am a 36 year old Elite Para Cyclist. I was involved in a Motor Vehicle Accident in August of 2014 in which I suffered severe leg and neck trauma. I began cycling again at the end of 2015 and haven't looked back since. My goals are quite simple, I want to be the best in the world and to be able to prove it at the biggest event in the world, the Paralympics.
Sport Achievements so far:
2017 Successes: Road World Championship: Silver in both Road Time Trial and Road Race.
2018 Successes: Track World Championship: Scratch Race Silver, 3km Individual Pursuit Fourth. Road World Championship: Road Race Silver, Road Time Trial Fourth, Road World Cup - Belgium: Gold medal Road Race and Road Time Trial, Track National Championship: 3km Individual Pursuit Gold Medal and PB (Unofficial Sea Level World Record) time of 3:42.15, Silver medal 1KM Time Trial and PB time 1:17.09, Road National Championship: Gold Medal Road Race and Road Time Trial.
2019 Successes: Track World Championship: Gold 3km Individual Pursuit, Road World Championship: Gold Road Time Trial, Brisbane C1 Track event: Gold 3km I.P. & World Record 3min 33.2sec (has since been beaten)
2020/2021 Successes: 5 x National Champion (track and road)
Tokyo 2020 Paralympics: Gold Road Time Trial, Silver 3km Individual Pursuit
