About the project

Hello everyone, my name is Darren Hicks and I am a 34 year old Elite Para Cyclist. I was involved in a Motor Vehicle Accident in August of 2014 in which I suffered severe leg and neck trauma. I began cycling again at the end of 2015 and haven't looked back since. My goals are quite simple, I want to be the best in the world and to be able to prove it at the biggest event in the world, the Paralympics.

Sport Achievements so far:

1. 2018 Successes: Track World Championship: Scratch Race Silver, 3km Individual Pursuit Fourth. Road World Championship: Road Race Silver, Road Time Trial Fourth, Road World Cup - Belgium: Gold medal Road Race and Road Time Trial, Track National Championship: 3km Individual Pursuit Gold Medal and PB (Unofficial Sea Level World Record) time of 3:42.15, Silver medal 1KM Time Trial and PB time 1:17.09, Road National Championship: Gold Medal Road Race and Road Time Trial.

2019 Goals:

*Win my first World Championship

*Finish the year ranked as UCI No' 1 

*Beat my current PB time in the 3KM Individual Pursuit

*Start doing more public Speaking 

*Work with APC, CA and State level Cycling Associations to promote Paracycling and encourage more participation
