About the project

Rachel Neylan took up the sport of cycling in 2008 and in a bold leap of faith embarked on a journey to become a world class Australian athlete and Olympian.

Through a fierce vision, great passion, endless dedication and prevailing persistence, she is a 4 time World Championship Representative, 2012 World Championship Silver Medalist and Rio Olympian.

Her cycling career started when she knocked on the door of an Australian Sports Commission National Talent ID & Development Program in South Australia. Rachel left behind family, friends and career followed instinct and a dream, relocated from Sydney to Adelaide to begin cycling training, before ever starting a single bike race!

Rachels career peaked early when she won a silver medal at the World Championships in 2012, only five years after taking up cycling.

Rachel studied a Bachelor of Applied Science in Physiotherapy at Sydney University and has worked with several elite sporting organisations including the AIS, NSWIS, Australian Rowing Team, Australian Polo, and the Sydney Swans AFL Club.

Rachel has a strong will to succeed further in becoming a World Champion and Olympic Medalist. With a strong two years ahead for Rachel to further represent Australia in Cycling on the world stage and the 2020 Olympic Games.

Funds raised on this platform will help to optimise all of the immediate travel, training and elite performance costs. There are substantial gaps between 'pro' incomes in Women's cycling and what it takes to live, train and race at the most appropriate capacity possible.

Rachel is a gracious and hard working community focused character with a passion for empowering and enriching the lives of others, at any chance enthusiastically giving back the love and care she receives at all possible opportunities. Thank you in advance for your consideration!
