About the project

I am a 23 year old, female Sprint Kayaker, currently managing the workload of elite sport, studying and working part-time. I started paddling back in 2013 when I was only 16 through a talent identification program. Since then, it has provided me with the life changing experiences and challenges that elite sport throws at you. I have been selected for 6 Australian teams, part of the Paris 2024 initiative and have been on a scholarship with the Western Australian Institute of Sport (WAIS) for 7 years.

After 2 seasons of fighting illness, at the Australian National Sprint Championships 2020 I was the highest ranked U23 female in both the K1 500m and 200m events and placed 2nd in the open K1 200. Unfortunately the ability to test myself on the international stage last year didn't occur but I can't wait for the next opportunity to see how far I can go!

With my team at WAIS and my coach by my side I train 7x kayak on water, 3x gyms and 4-5x cross training sessions.

My goal is to represent Australia at the Senior World Championships (when Covid-19 next permits international travel) in the pursuit of refining my racing towards the Paris Olympic Games. In the meantime I will continue to train hard domestically alongside my support team to ensure that I continue to chase the world class standards.

The sport itself is not cheap with boats costing upwards of $6000, paddles $700, international and interstate travel, competition entries, membership costs, supplements, other sport equipment and the many more sport related costs. The national program has also become a centralised program in which I will need to uproot my life in Perth and relocate to the Gold Coast in the near future. My ability to work is limited as I am also studying full time to become a lawyer, doing the Juris Doctor at the University of Western Australia. With my free time I work in the office of the state body, Paddle WA to cover the costs of living out of home whilst being an elite athlete.

Donations received will go directly towards the costs spoken of above and truly any support received, no matter the size will be greatly appreciated. Any donation will help me train harder and go faster! Thank you for taking the time to read and become a part of my journey to Paris 2024. Also remember due to the partnership with the Australian Sport Foundation, all donations over $2 are tax deductible!
