When I was about 15 years old my eldest sister came back from living in Europe where she had been attending university and she had bought a gift for each of our sisters and I. My gift was simple, we both enjoyed art so she had bought me a small moleskin sketching pad. The gift itself was not remarkable, but what was written inside was. I'm sure she doesn't remember now, but inside the front cover she had written:

"Anything you can imagine is real." - Pablo Picasso

What she didn't realise is that that quote would become a key element in my success as an athlete and in my general approach to life for the next 15 years. I have achieved almost everything possible in my athletics career and every one of those successes started the same way, as a simple idea in my head.

In 2018 I was watching the Winter Olympics and I imagined something; me in a bobsled, completing against able-bodied athletes. Fast forward to now and I am the number one pilot for the Australian able bodied bobsled squad.

My goal now is to qualify my team to the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing. If successful I will be the first Paralympian to then compete at the Olympics in a different sport and the first athlete to do the double switch of Paralympics to Olympics and Summer to Winter games.

One of the most important things I've learnt so far is that being on the road for months at a time, hiring a sled to drive, paying for coaching and all the other bits that go with this new sport are expensive.

Preparations for our 3rd season are in full swing but bobsled is like F1 on ice, to be competitive this year we will need a faster sled and a decent set of runners.

I'm on my way to turning this next idea into reality and I could use your help with a tax deductible donation!
