Hello, I’m Ade, and I’m on an incredible journey that I hope will lead to my selection for the Australian Para Ice Hockey Team as we prepare for the C Pool World Championships in November 2024. I’d love to share a bit about myself and why this opportunity means so much to me.

For over 30 years, I served between the British and Australian Forces as an Armourer, dedicating my life to protecting others. My service took me around the world, where I not only honed my skills but also formed bonds that would last a lifetime. I also spent many years as a firefighter, working in some of the most challenging conditions imaginable. One of the most profound experiences of my life was during the 2019/2020 bushfire season in NSW, the most widespread and extreme fire the region had ever seen. I lost friends along the way, and it was a time of immense hardship and sorrow.

Throughout my service, I sustained many injuries, including the loss of sight, spinal injuries, and losing the use of my left leg. But through resilience, the support of my family, and my unwavering passion for sport, I found the strength to push through. Sport has always been my lifeline—it’s where I’ve found purpose, joy, and a sense of belonging.

I’ve had the honour of competing in the Wounded Warrior Games and the Invictus Games, proudly representing Australia and winning medals across various sports. These experiences have been incredibly rewarding, but para sports, especially para ice hockey, have become my true focus. I’m proud to be a member of the Newcastle Northstars Para Ice Hockey team, where I wear the #91 jersey with pride. As an ambassador for the sport and an integral part of the team, para ice hockey has given me a new mission—to inspire others and push the limits of what we can achieve together.

Now, as I prepare for the possibility of representing Australia at the C Pool World Championships in November 2024, I’m asking for your support. Every donation helps me cover the costs of training, equipment, and travel to ensure I’m in the best position to succeed.
