Visit websiteRecently turned 18-year-old local Taree girl Amelia Moore, has been selected to represent Australia at the Virtus 2025 World Swimming Championships. This International event is being held in Bangkok, Thailand from 20th – 30th August 2025. Amelia is a proud Stroud Seals Swim Club member, formally from Coffs Harbour Swim Club and is classified as an S19 swimmer (II-3 a relatively new classification which features athletes with high functioning autism). Amelia competed in 2022 at the Virtus Oceania Asia Games held in Brisbane at the age of 15 years coming home with 3 x Gold and 4 x Silver medals. Amelia also competed for Australia making her second team at the age of 16 years where she travelled to Vichy, France in 2023 to compete at the Virtus Global Games bringing home a swag of medals including 3 x Gold, 5 x Silver and 4 bronze medals. Amelia was awarded the Australian Sports Medal at age 17 years in 2024 for her contribution to the success of the Australian Team in France 2023. Amelia is also an active patrolling and competitive member with Surf Life Saving NSW volunteering her time to help keep the community safe belonging to both Pacific Palms and Forster Surf Life Saving Clubs.
Amelia's goal is to one day be able to swim at the Commonwealth Games. Amelia needs financial assistance to enable her to compete at this International event. This will not only help Amelia but will also assist her in pioneering the way for other younger upcoming swimmers in the same classification.
