For the past 3 years the Eastern Phantoms Junior League Baseball team has been focused on one goal, to win a National Championship and represent Australia in the US at the World Series.

In 2020 Covid hit and all international tournaments were cancelled, we had to settle on being State Champions. In 2021 after defending our State Title and being 3-0 in pool play – Covid hit again. We were evacuated from Mildura as the state of Victoria went into lockdown. We had 30 mins to pack up, end our campaign and flee for the border. Not only was the dream crushed, but we had to self-quarantine for 14 days upon our return to WA. 14 long days to think what might have been.

At the beginning of June, 3 years in the making, 3 WA State Championships won, we were able to sweep the Australian Junior League Competition, a perfect 6-0. The dream to represent Australia fulfilled.

As you can imagine, these trips are not cheap. But the reward of travelling to the other side of the world to play against the best players in our age group is priceless.
