Border Carriage Club Inc (BCC) is based 30km north of Albury, NSW, and it hosts “Battle Of The Border”, the largest premier combined driving event in Australia with record numbers of entries each year, (some 2.5 - 3 times greater than any other carriage driving event), with competitors coming from all over Australia as well as from overseas to compete.

Apart from the combined driving events (CDE) BCC continues to reach the highest national record numbers of competitors for events such as the NSW State Dressage Championships and Dressage Qualifiers.

Residing in Europe, the Australian Carriage Driving four in hand team consisting of two drivers, recently won Australia’s first Nation’ Cup Gold Medal for Combined Driving at an Fei event in Kladruby (CZE).

Australia's para driver has also been very successful, receiving a bronze medal at the 7th World Championships for Para Driving in Exloo in the Netherlands in August 2023.

BCC continues to provide enormous support and encouragement to Australian Combine Driving competitors including a Para Driver, by organizing an international driving coach to visit Australia twice a year for training and coaching purposes. This innovation has provided excellent coaching and has resulted, in vast improvements in attendances’’ performance.

The club also boasts one of Australia’s best carriage driving dressage arena and the venue includes exceptional facilities for both competitors and horses. The property has been previously favourably compared with international venues in Europe and the US.

With an increasing number of entries at all our events, and with BCC’s determination to continue improving the management and efficiency of which is already in use in our events, we require an electronic scoring system for driven dressage. Such systems are already in use in ridden dressage, and we need a similar system to allow our scoring to become more efficient and therefore quicker to get the final results out to our competitors, judges, organisers and the spectators.

These systems provide a full replacement for traditional paper sheets. Judges' marks and comments are recorded and transmitted in real-time to the scorers. This system enhances efficiency and accuracy in scoring.

These systems will help improve efficiency and accuracy, reduce data time, and enhance the overall experience for both competitors and organizer in our carriage driving sport.

We also need to purchase electronic timing equipment for use in both the Cones and Marathon phases of our competition. This equipment will improve accuracy of timing and enables competitors to improve their precision in completing the course and be more exact in their timing.

The added bonus of electronic timing equipment is more involvement and connectedness of spectators as they are able to easily see how each competitor has performed.

Our aim is to raise funds to purchase these two very much needed items.

 (1) Electronic Dressage Scoring System for the Dressage phase and

(2) Electronic Timing Systems for our cones and marathon phase of the event.
