Crosby Park Masterplan Upgrade

Crosby Park Masterplan Upgrade

Our Vision:

Is to create a modern sporting facility that supports the needs of our community, continues our connection as a family club, is adaptable, sympathetic to the environment, promotes participation and inclusiveness, and provides a platform for commercial sustainability into the years to come.

Crosby Park:

Is a social community hub used by more than 250,000 people each year for sports, community and recreational purposes. It is a captivating green space for families to come together to enjoy outdoor activities, watch local competitions and attend community events. It truly belongs to the local community — to all ages, all genders and all skill levels.

Crosby Park has become not only a prominent sporting hub, but also a recreational haven for the local community.

However, time has come to revitalise our Club to address our future needs and meet current and future community expectations. Our plans to upgrade the facilities and fields at Crosby to create an inclusive community sporting hub, represent arguably the most exciting initiative in the Club’s rich 114-year history.

The proposed upgrade will take place over a 24-month period in two stages:

Stage 1:

Resurfacing of the existing sporting fields, upgrading field lighting, and creating new spectator seating. (Done)

Stage 2:

Construction of a purpose built aquatic centre and car parking.

Stage 3 and 4:

Creating a new, high performance, game and training facility containing all provisions to meet the Queensland Rugby Union premier rugby playing standards including, but not limited to, expansive male and female change rooms, medical facilities and a Club gym.

Improving the Clubhouse facilities, increasing accessibility and participation for people of all ages and abilities, and upgrading parking facilities to achieve greater efficiency and more parking spaces overall.

Stage 5:

Construction of new commercial facilities to provide the club with long term financial sustainability.

Our Masterplan

Which has been professionally prepared with input from a broad range of stakeholders, is designed to ensure Brothers continues to be integral to the local community and remains at the forefront of rugby in Australia. The proposed upgrade will help to ensure we meet the demand of the Club’s ever-growing user base in a financially, environmentally and socially sustainable way, while staying true to our traditions and grassroots beginnings.

When delivered the new Brothers Rugby Club will:

• Provide safer and more robust playing surfaces.

• Provide upgraded lighting, extending the safe usage hours for sporting and community activities.

• Provide increased seating with improved disability, seniors access and shade structures.

• Feature equal representation in modern change room and training facilities.

• Feature new universal change room facilities to accommodate the needs of our growth in female and disabled sports participation.

• Permit increased community and cultural use of Crosby Park and Club facilities.

• Allow the club to host visiting international and national teams.

• Deliver growth in boys and girls participation in our existing programs and pathways.

• Deliver growth in boys and girls participation in the MRP Mentor and Leadership programs.

• Provide continued growth in passive and informal community use of the playing fields.

• Engender community pride in the new playing facilities and the surrounding green space, and promote genuine connectivity with the local community.

However, we can't do all of this by ourselves and are looking to secure support from Government, members, corporates and the broader community.

We urge you all to get behind our exciting plans and be part of “Brothers: Building a Stronger Community”.
