Charters Towers Rugby Union Football Club was incorporated in 1993. We are a grassroots rugby union club in regional North Queensland with a population of approximately 10 000. Our junior and senior players range from Under 5 to Golden Oldies. We have implemented programs to give females and males of all ages a pathway to reach their goals and have taste success in the local Townsville and District Rugby Union competition. 

In 2021 we established a Modified Rugby Program in conjunction with Ginger Cloud Foundation for sensory impaired participants and their families. Our player catchment stretches from as far north as Papua New Guinea to Brisbane in south east Queensland and Northern Territory in the west. Our vast catchment is a result of our partnership with the private boarding schools in Charters Towers. 

Our facilities are in Charters Towers and are well established on freehold land, which is owned by our incorporation. We have many families who contribute to the longevity of our organisation and many talented players have passed through our rugby field posts, some of whom have returned with their families to coach and mentor. 

2019 marked a momentous achievement for the club when they won the TDRU Junior Club Championship for the 1st time in their 13th year of playing junior footy. Our clubs main objective is to promote and encourage the game of Rugby Union, provide and maintain playing areas and facilities for games and social club functions, to provide amenities for members, past and present, and to encourage good fellowship, camaraderie, team spirit and to respect ourselves, others, officials and the game.
