Upgrade of floodlighting for the Dr. Tom Nutley Field, Nth Rockhampton.

Colts Rugby Union Club Inc. is a well known grassroots club in Park Avenue, Nth Rockhampton. This club has developed their grounds, lights and clubhouse from scratch, by running raffles and applying for assistance from grants and a bank loan which has since finalised, giving us full ownership of the assets since pre-1980.

We are the only standalone rugby club in town who has not had to amalgamate to survive. We host training and competition for all grades of local rugby union competition, from Under-6's to senior representative teams. These grounds are also home to a junior rugby league club, for their night competition.

The recent 2021 CQ Rugby Grand Finals were successfully held at this field, although this needed to be a daytime event, due to inadequate floodlighting. Our next event will be the Junior Rugby competition held on Friday evenings, needing hired lighting towers for safety over the four junior fields.

As the club leases the site from Rockhampton Regional Council, we pay for all upgrades to these facilities by sourcing sports grants and donations from sponsors.

This floodlighting upgrade is critical to the continuance of night sport in this tropical region, and we will be applying to the upcoming $150,000 State Gov't Sports Infrastructure Grant for funding .

We need to cover a 20 percent cost for this project if successful, an amount of approximately $30,000, and any help large or small would be hugely appreciated and through the Australian Sports Foundation is tax deductible.
