Having started playing indoor cricket at the age of 7, Cruz has developed a passion for the sport. He has played at all indoor centres locally in Perth and continues to play at his local centre Seamers Sports in Balcatta.

In 2019 Cruz represented WA in the U13 boys team at the National Championship held in Casey, Victoria, the team finished as runners up defeated by Queensland.

Covid delayed a return to the national competition for 2 years (2020-21). Cruz returned to the National Championship in 2022 held in Victoria representing WA in the U18 Boys team, finishing as runners up again this time defeated by Victoria. Cruz and two of his team mates came away with selection in the U18 Boys 2022 All-Star team.

Third times a charm. In 2023 at the National Championships held in Ipswich Queensland, Cruz received recognition for his hard work and dedication to indoor cricket coming away with equal Player of the Series and a national title for U18s WA team. In addition he has been selected in the Australian U22 development squad to travel back to Queensland for a training camp at the beginning of September and will be representing Australia in the U18 team travelling to Dubai a few weeks later for the Junior Indoor Cricket World Cup series.
