Deadly Rugby Camp

Deadly Rugby Camp

Deadly Rugby is a Social Enterprise whose vision is to make a difference in kids' lives.

For indigenous kids it's about creating opportunities through sports programs and access to sporting equipment.

For non-indigenous kids, it's about creating cultural immersion programs that educate, inspire, and create cultural champions.

Deadly Rugby has 3 Parts:

• Deadly Rugby After School Program

• Deadly Rugby Gear

• Deadly Rugby Cultural Immersion Camp

Deadly Rugby After School

This is a rugby program where we connect indigenous kids in remote communities with rugby clubs. If they go to school, they get to go to training and after training they get a feed. So hopefully, at the end of the day, they've been to school, kicked the footy around, have a belly full of tucker, home for an early night's sleep ready for school the next day.

Deadly Rugby Gear

Schools upgrade their sporting equipment regularly in the name of privilege and they're happy to give it to me so that I can put it in the hands of kids that don't have access to it.

Deadly Rugby Camp

We're holding our first camp in Darwin in April next year. 2 schools will pay their way to take part in a First Nations Cultural Immersion Camp.

These kids will get an opportunity to experience a First Nations Cultural Immersion Program like no other. It's country, culture then rugby. Rugby’s third.

These kids will experience breathtaking country, they'll meet the traditional owners of the land, will have local indigenous rugby players join their teams and they'll have a unique and authentic education and cultural experience so that they can go back to their communities, their families, and their mates, as cultural champions. I want our kids to be as proud of our First Nations people as the Kiwis are the mighty Maori.

It's also about giving back to communities, these schools with these elite coaching staff, to be a part of the camp must volunteer and run integrated training sessions. That's where they host a training session where players and coaches from all the surrounding clubs can come coach and train alongside them. Giving back to local communities by developing these volunteer coaches. I like to call this creating a channel of good. Armies of volunteers equipped to create more opportunities for more kids.

The impact of these Camps and the After School Program can be measured in how many kids we’ve reached. In 2024 that number will be 420, by the end of year 3 the total direct impact will be 2000 kids. And that doesn’t consider the indirect impact that investing in the development of the local volunteer coaches will have on hundreds of local kids each year.
