My name is Dylan Thompson, but most people in the roller derby community know me as Griftah.

Around 2 years ago, I started my derby journey in an effort to help out my wife with her own derby training. I quickly took to it and soon realised that this was something I wanted to get more involved in. From there, things have gone in leaps and bounds! 

Earlier this year, both my wife and I received the amazing news that we had been selected to represent our country in World Skate Roller Derby at the World Roller Games 2019, being held in Barcelona! I never could have imagined that what started out as just a hobby, could have led to this once in a lifetime opportunity to don the green and the gold.

The Skate Australia Men & Women's Roller Derby Teams do not receive any government grants, funding or sponsorship which means all athletes are completely self-funded. And as you can imagine, the costs associated with this are very high.
