The Club was formed in 1958 by a group of mainly English migrants and a number of Aussies and began playing in the SA Competition in that year.

The Founding Members included Stan Wright, John Tobin (after whom the Best Player Trophy is named), Sandy Neild, John Ford and the Reverend Hal Witt (later renowned as the Bishop of the Outback). It is the oldest, continuously operating Sporting Club in Elizabeth, having recently celebrated its 60th Birthday.

Our aim at Elizabeth Rugby Union Football Club is to develop Rugby Union in The North and to create an environment where the game can be played and enjoyed by all ages regardless of gender or ability. Our objective is to help children become physically active and learn important life skills about teamwork, leadership and discipline, and skill development. At Elizabeth our aim is to provide rugby for the whole community, to raise individual standards and team results and to achieve excellence.

With a renewed focus on juniors over the last five years we now see ourselves running Under 6's through to under 16's with next years goals to include under 18's to give us a full complement of juniors. To do this takes money and there is always the expense of renewing playing strips, training equipment and with the aid of this foundation to assist families with fees and equipment along with developing further programs to encourage more kids out to play rugby. So please show your support today by making a tax-deductible donation of $2 or more, through this fundraising campaign with the Australian Sports Foundation.
