I’m Emery Kaison, and I’m reaching out for your support to continue my journey as a competitive figure skater. I began skating only three years ago, completely by chance. Within my first four months of skating, I had fallen totally in love with the sport and was already competing. The ice rink became a safe space for me to express myself artistically and my community of fellow skaters quickly became my family. 

So far I’ve won 15 gold medals, 3 silver medals, 7 bronze medals and completed 5 ISA tests. I’ve also had the privilege of performing for Stars On Ice Australia at events like Bondi Fest and Winter Fest. This year, I’m competing in Intermediate Men. My goal is to become the Australian champion in my division.

I am incredibly grateful for the opportunities I’ve been given, that I once never would’ve imagined having. At 16, I was forced to leave home due to family violence and grew up in youth services for homeless children. To support myself, I left school and could not complete my HSC. It’s only thanks to organizations like Youth Off The Streets and The Variety Children’s Charity that I've been able to resume my education and live independently. However, I’m still striving to make my dreams come true. Your donations will help pay for all aspects of my training and competition fees, to allow me to focus on my skating and full-time studies.

Skating isn’t just a sport for me, it’s my life. Having to leave home at 16 was incredibly difficult, but it also allowed me to meet all the wonderful athletes and coaches who have shaped me into not only a better athlete but a better person. Dedicating myself to this sport has been so rewarding, and has taught me so many valuable life lessons. But the costs of training, ice time, ballet lessons, competition fees, and equipment are substantial, and I need your support to continue my journey.
