Hey, I’m Emery Kaison, and I’m reaching out for your support as I continue in my journey as a competitive figure skater. I started skating just three years ago after going ice skating with friends in high school and enrolling in skate school. Within my first four months of skating, I was already competing, and I fell in love with the sport. The ice rink became a safe space for me to express my emotions through my artistic abilities and the community of fellow skaters quickly became my family.

So far, I’ve earned 15 gold medals, 3 silver, medals, 7 bronze medal and successfully completed 5 ISA tests. I’ve also been given the privilege of performing for Stars On Ice Australia at events like Bondi Fest and Winter Fest. I’m currently competing in Intermediate Mens and I aim to become the Australian champion in my division this year.

I wasn’t given the best cards to play. I grew up in youth services for homeless children after leaving home due to family violence. I was unable to complete my HSC due to leaving school early to take care of my health and support myself. Thanks to organizations like Youth Off The Streets and The Variety Children’s Charity, I’ve been able to move out to live independently and continue my education, but I’m still working hard to make my dreams come true. Your donations will help me pay for all aspects of my training and competition fees, as well as give me the time and space to focus on my full time studies.

Skating isn’t just a sport for me, my whole life has developed and grown around skating. Leaving home as a 16 year old was extremely taxing and exhausting but it also gave me the opportunity to meet all the wonderful athletes and coaches who shape who I am today. Committing to my sport has taught me so many valuable life lessons that keep me going in life. But the costs of training, ice time, ballet lessons, competition fees, and necessary equipment are substantial, and I need support to continue my journey.
