Words from Ethan: "I have loved the game of cricket since I was around 7 years old. I love that cricket is an international game, and that it can be played by people of all ages, races, abilities and from varying socio-economic backgrounds.

Being out on the cricket field allows me to express myself in the way I want. I love team comradery, talking with and supporting others to achieve a common goal, and being on the cricket field gives me the chance to do that for a long period of time.

Batting is one of my favourite things to do on the field. I have a hunger to score runs and to help my team get into an advantageous position to win the game. I practice all year round, have private lessons with a coach, and am often found at my local cricket nets practicing for hours on end.

Showing good sportsmanship is something I value and always strive to demonstrate, whether it be on or off the field. Being a good sportsman shows leadership, and that is a quality I believe I have. Leading a team on the field to play hard, but also fair, is something I try to achieve in every team I play for. I lead with my actions and words by encouraging my teammates when they are going well, and when they are not having a great game, I never bring them down or make them feel worse. I offer encouraging words, point out what they did well, and remind them of the importance of not dwelling on negatives and learning from their mistakes.

I have been selected to coach younger children at clinics and development days, and particularly enjoyed these opportunities as it has allowed me to pass on my passion and knowledge. But even more so, it has given me skills and developed my desire to be involved in the wider cricket community, encourage others to play this great sport, and to hopefully inspire younger children to be a well-rounded good sport and even better person.

Thank you so much for your generous donation, I really do appreciate your kindness and support. This competition will not only be a great opportunity for myself, but it will also allow me to represent my community and club at an international level, of which I am very proud".
