The ‘GIANT Hand’ initiative sees the GIANTS producing and delivering meals to those families most impacted by the devastating floods across New South Wales, in addition to providing equipment to sporting clubs decimated by recent flooding.

The GIANTS will provide equipment and meals - prepared at the club’s training and administration base at Sydney Olympic Park – to those most vulnerable families and organisations across key regions from northern NSW through to western Sydney and the greater Sydney area.

The program is facilitated by the GIANTS staff and players, with support from community organisations such as the Lighthouse Community Support Network, Canterbury SES, and PCYC Bankstown.

GIANTS Head of Community, Ali Faraj, said the ‘GIANT Hand’ program was an important extension of the club’s community outreach agenda focused on meeting the needs of those people who have been hardest hit by the recent floods, while providing critical support for community sporting organsations looking to rebuild after the floods.

“Countless people across NSW have been significantly impacted by the recent flooding with many losing their homes and or livelihoods,” Mr Faraj said.

“For many, the cost has been immeasurable and will continue to be so for a long time to come. There are individuals and families across the state that don’t know where their next meal is coming from, which is something we’re seeking to address. We are also committed to helping those community sporting organisations who have been impacted by flooding given the role they play in galvanising their communities. The GIANTS know first-hand how sport can act as the lifeblood of the community for many people which is why we’re using funds raised via the GIANT Hand initiative to get grassroots clubs back on their feet.

“One of the key planks of the GIANTS purpose is to enrich the lives of the communities in which operate and many communities across NSW are currently dealing with significant challenges.

“The GIANT Hand program wouldn’t be possible without the support of our community partners, and we encourage everyone to do what they can to assist those in need during this difficult time.”

The GIANTS will be delivering meals to those in need across NSW for at least the next month with the program to be extended when and if required.
