Dave and myself, Lisa, have set up this fundraiser to help get our daughter Hannah who is a age national diver to Sydney this August. Currently due to financial reasons (along with over half of Oz) we aren’t in a position yet to get her there.

The biggest reason for not being prepared is late 2022 she was having issues with her right foot. Her coach had also noticed she wasn’t coming of the springboard with as much power as normal. She was sent off for tests and to say the results shocked us all was an understatement. They had found a tumour in the base of her tibia bone. The drs decided to not do a biopsy but instead go straight for surgical removal. During the wait for surgery Hannah had been selected to dive in Queensland and with consultation with the surgeon decided to allow her to compete incase results did not come back in her favour and diving may have been off the cards for an unlimited time. She competed so well given the mental struggles of the unknown.

Once we returned to Perth she was booked in for the operation. She had been advised that she would be completely unable to weight bare for 10 weeks. 10 weeks of no training, no walking, running or being in the water. It was the longest 10 weeks ever and to top it off the wound got a staph infection and ended up keeping her from the Australian nationals and trials for the Wa state team school age competition. We finally got approval for her to slowly begin back at training (not the usual 5 -6 sessions) and have watched her glow slowly come back.

Approximately 3 weeks ago the team from the WA state school age event was released. Hannah was absolutely blown away to see her name. She had been selected due to her dedication to training prior to surgery, and her sportsmanship she always displays. To say we are proud is a complete understatement.

Now the realisation of the financial position we (and almost every family) are in is not one we can just pull $3000 to get her there. Prior to Hans surgery I wasn’t able to be working as I knew she would need someone with her constantly to help with daily living, physiotherapy, extra admission’s due to infection. Once Hannahs wound had healed enough I returned to work to just catch up in general. Applications have been done through local council have been submitted and awaiting outcomes. We also drop can collection bags to people in our local area then take them to put all little bits away. We are hopeful to do a fundraising bbq at our local IGA as well. I do feel saddened that I have actually come here to ask, but so many people have asked me to set one up for her given the year she has been through and courage she has maintained. So thats how we have ended here asking for a hand. I know in our current economy this is not something most can do and that is perfectly fine. We are also going to be doing some lucky number sheets if we get time to sort things. If you are able to help, even $1 we would be forever grateful xoxo
