My selection into the National Junior Squad came after being identified as one of the top 30 athletes under the age of 22 in Australia. We spent our October long weekend at an extensive training camp in order to be eligible for selection for our United States Tour. As junior members of the Hockey Australia Indoor Framework, we are earmarked as the next potential athletes to compete at the Indoor Hockey World Cup and our trip to the states will consist of training camps and games against top ranked United States Players.

Though this is an amazing opportunity to represent my country, it comes at a hefty price as indoor hockey is completely self-funded. We as athletes have already had to front over $1500 to not only attend the camp but to also be equipped with the training and playing kits and unfortunately we also have to front the entire bill in terms of airfare, both too and from the United States, as well as the cost of accomodation, uniforms, food, transport, venue hire and passport/visa applications.

I work full-time to pay for my sporting dreams and my wonderful single mother has fronted various bills for me in the past so that I could chase my dreams of playing for Australia, just as she did in her chosen sport of Judo back in 1988 when she represented our country at the Olympic Games in Seoul, Korea.

Any financial assistance would be graciously appreciated in order for me to represent Australia as I would not only be representing myself but my beautiful family and friends on a global stage. Without your help, I won’t be able to support myself to make it on this international tour, one that I have prepared and trained for the past 4 years to achieve, only to fall short at the finish line due to financial reasons.
