U/16’s SCHOOLBOYS TOUR OF UK & IRELAND

Dear Sir/Madam,

This letter is to confirm that Jared Williams has been selected to tour the UK & Ireland this coming January 9^th to 28^th as a member of the Australian U/16 Invitational Schoolboys Team. Jared was identified and selected (on merit) at the recent U/16 National Schoolboys Tournament held in Perth this past August.

Former Socceroos players such as Massimo Luongo and Marco Bresciano are former schoolboys who have experienced these tours in the past. Recent alumni of this tour Sam Silvera (Middlesborough) and Liam Bonetig (Celtic FC) have recently benefitted from the experience, signing prosperous contracts for professional EPL and SPL clubs respectively. All these former schoolboys’ players (as well as others) have forged professional careers in the game and have credited the Australian Schools Football program as one of the key influences in kick-starting their careers.

Unfortunately, Australian Schools Football is a user-pay program with very little current financial backing. With this, players (and their families) are asked to cover the entire cost of these tours. Program officials have in the past attempted to seek out corporate sponsorship (and continue to do so) without much luck to date.
