I have been playing cue sports (snooker, billiards and pool) since I was 6 years old, and playing competitively since I was 8. In the past 11 years, I have won 7 individual national titles, 17 individual state titles and multiple national team titles. I am the current Australian U18 Snooker Champion, Australian U18 Billiards Champion and Australian U21 Billiards Champion. I have also just trialled for my first open men's team and won a selection spot on the Queensland Men's Blackball Team to compete at Nationals in Perth in July.
I have been selected to represent Australia for either snooker or pool on 11 occasions. Unfortunately many of those events were cancelled due to COVID however I was lucky enough to be able to accept some of those offers giving me the opportunity to play in France, New Zealand and all around Australia. I was part of the Australian U21 Snooker Team that won a Trans Tasman Test in New Zealand in early 2020. I won a silver medal in the World U18 Doubles Blackball and a bronze medal in the World U18 Teams Blackball Championships in France last year. I most recently competed in the WSF World U18 Snooker Championships in Sydney earlier this year, making the last 16 before being knocked out by the eventual world champion, Stan Moody (England). I also competed in the Open age event in Sydney with my most notable match resulting in a win against the 2022 WSF U18 World Snooker Runner Up.
During the first 7 months of 2023, I am attempting to compete in 14 major national and international competitions. This will require 8 trips interstate (from Queensland to New South Wales, Victoria and Western Australia) as well as one trip to New Zealand. In total, I will be away from home for approximately 10 weeks between January and the end of July. These trips and events are not funded, resulting in approximately $15,000 of expenses.
I completed year 12 in 2022 and have deferred my university studies (Bachelor Business / Bachelor Sport Development) during 2023 to allow me to focus on my training, working part time to assist with costs and playing in competitions. Unfortunately, without some extra support, I will not be able to pursue my sporting goals.
In addition, I have been offered positions at three different snooker academies overseas and am currently trying to see if I am able to accept one of these offers in the latter half of 2023. There will also be a financial commitment of $5000-$15,000 for this, depending on which academy I attend.
I want to thank you for any support you can provide as I try to be the best I can be in my chosen field.
