Kingston Heath Golf Club

New Club Entrance

About

The current Club entrance off Kingston Road has served the Club for the past 90 years or more. Increased traffic flows have made entering and exiting the Club, at times, a challenge.

The Club has been in prolonged discussions/negotiations with both Kingston City Council and Vic Roads in relation to plans which will make the entrance safer for members and guests.

Whilst we share Vic Roads view that the safest option is for members to utilize the western entrance, accessed through the traffic signals at St Andrews Avenue, we do not believe that it is appropriate to direct delivery vehicles, buses and guest traffic through the neighbouring residential area.

The new design provides a significant area for vehicles entering the Club to wait for access to the entry gates. As is the case with the western entrance, the entry gate will be open during peak entry times allowing even greater ease of access.

The design includes separate entry and exit points, which will provide additional safety with vehicles being able to enter the club without any concerns about vehicles potentially appearing in the driveway on their way out.

Vic Roads has advised that they will only approve the project IF the Club undertakes work on Kingston Road providing slip lanes. Whilst the design submitted by the Club, was much safer than the current, we concede that the Vic Roads insistence on slip lanes will result in an even safer entrance, albeit at a significant cost.
