Liam Fookes is a 12-year-old road motorcycle racer from Darwin in the Northern Territory.

Current top junior road racer in the NT and racing with TERRA NT juniors. Liam has a natural talent for racing and his biggest dream and goal is to use the talent he was blessed with to race in the MotoGP one day. 

For the next step towards his goals and dreams, Liam has entered the Oceania Junior Cup 2025, to learn from the best and compete against national level competitors. OJC runs alongside Australian Superbike Championship (ASBK). This is a great opportunity for him and in this competition the bikes are provided and taken to the track by the OJC crew, which makes travel from the NT a bit easier, but still at a cost. 

Managed by Motorcycling Australia (MA) and supported by FIM Oceania, Oceania Junior Cup, is an official Road to MotoGP™ program where riders, aged between 11 and under 16, compete on identical Yamaha R15 machines. 

OJC typically consist of 6 race meets throughout Australia with Sydney Motorsport Park, Queensland Raceway, Phillip Island and The Bend in SA, to only mention a few of the tracks. This interactive development program also includes invaluable coaching by former MotoGP rider and race winner, Garry McCoy.

To make this financially possible for Liam, we are raising money towards travel, accommodation and competition package.  The competition package cost is set at $11 275 and then we will have interstate travel to 7 events (including training event) and accommodation expenses added to it. An additional estimate of $15 000. This excludes any crash damage.

A word from Liam: I believe I was born to race, and I know that if you believe, you will achieve. Representing the NT in OJC 2025 would be a great honour. 

Liam will also continue to race on his own R15 motorbike as a junior with TERRA NT throughout 2025. This will give him more track time and more time on the bike. We invite all NT supporters to catch Liam at Hidden Valley raceway at all the TERRA 2025 race meets.
