We have a dream and a Goal, to represent Australia at the LA 2028 and Brisbane 2032 Olympics in the men's 49er class and win GOLD.
About Us:
Liam:
Chasing the childhood dream of winning gold at the Olympics. I have been sailing out of RQYS my whole life, learning to sail in Opti at the age of 7, I moved into flying 11, then 29ers and am now pursuing my goals in the 49ers. One of my most memorable moments for me was winning Youth Sailor of the Year on awards night in 2020. To be called up and given a trophy with so many legendary, successful, and notable names, really just helped ignite my desire to reach the standard of those and prove to myself that I have what It takes. Currently, I am juggling a very busy schedule to make ends meet, working 35 hours a week, studying at Uni and training 4-5 days a week.
About Will:
My background and goals in sailing have ultimately been shaped by the success of my mother who set Olympic standards for me since a young age. This path has been underway since Junior Sabots however it has kicked into gear in 2018 with moderate success in the 29er. Becoming the dominant Queensland boat and competing at a high-level interstate put things truly into perspective and convinced me to commit to this pathway. Consequently, I’ve remained the dominant Queensland boat and continued to be competitive interstate.
Eventually, I was recognised by the QAS and have their support for my future.
Currently, my life consists of 50-hour work weeks to support my sailing, a deal with my boss facilitating my training sessions during the week and late-night gym sessions consistently done through sheer discipline.
From both of us:
In 2024 we have our eyes set on attending Kiel Week in Germany, and the Youth Worlds in Galicia, Spain. We plan to train and prepare as hard as we can to bring our A-game to both events. We are confident we can represent Australia proudly and produce a great result.
Where your support is going
our biggest expense is the purchase of equipment, with charter fees being so high, we have no option but to purchase a boat, your support will go towards a used Hull, mast, travel, boat transport, accommodation, regatta entry, and other Costs associated with our trip. We would really appreciate any donations no how big or small every bit helps fulfil our dreams. Where only just getting started and can’t wait to show what we’ve got!
Thanks, Liam and Will.
