Lucas was diagnosed with Hereditary Spastics Paraplegia (HSP) in 2020. HSP causes weakness in your muscles and affects their ability to function. Lucas’s Legs have been affected with his version of HSP.

Lucas had been competing at Cranbourne Little Athletics since U6, but was finding it increasingly more difficult to compete as his legs got worse.

Fast forward to 2021 and we switched Lucas to Multiclass after receiving his athletics Para classification. He hasn’t looked back since. He competed in three state competitions since last year and has excelled at them all! He has also found new friendships with other Multiclass athletes along the way! A disability is only a disability if you let it be one!

Now he has qualified for U11 Boys Multiclass Victorian team and will for part of the U11 Boys Team in the School Sport Nationals competition which is being held in Brisbane in November. This is a fantastic achievement for Lucas and we are so proud of him!
