I am a female Masters athlete who has been competing since 2009. During this time, I have successfully competed at State, National & World Championships setting multiple State and National Records in Long Jump, Triple Jump, Pentathlon and Heptathlon. I am currently waiting on ratification of the W45 Long Jump World Record. A summary of my major achievements is listed at the end of my profile. In addition, I have also been fortunate enough to win the Australian Masters Athletics Jumps Award three times including this year.
My life outside work revolves around athletics. Long jump and triple jump are my specialties and as a Masters athlete I have been able to achieve many of my dreams winning multiple medals at world level. I live in Melbourne and am a member of Essendon Athletics. I am coached by Alwyn Jones, a nine-time Australian triple jump Champion, who represented Australia at the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne winning a bronze medal. When competing in Australia I still represent my home state of W.A. where my love of athletics started as a young girl in Little Athletics. I love to share my passion for athletics with others by helping with coaching, not only with techniques but also with the mental approach to the sport.
In February 2024 I achieved my goal of breaking the world record in the long jump. In August I hope to represent Australia in my 10th World Championships in the long jump and triple jump. To this end I am looking for donations to help me fulfill my dream and that is to go to Gothenburg in Sweden to be able to compete against the best female athletes of my age group in the world. The money raised will go towards my fares, accommodation, uniform, shoes, coaching and other costs involved with my preparation and competition.
Thank you for taking the time to read my profile and I hope that you feel able to support me. Any donations would be greatly appreciated.
Melissa
