Your donation is supporting Kate Naess nee Doughty
Kate is a Paralympic triathlete and made her Paralympic debut in triathlon at the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games, finished 5th. Since Rio she has excelled at building her reputation as one of the best paratriathletes in the world.
Kate is currently ranked 9th in the world. During her triathlon career Kate has had 27 international starts consisting of:
- 16 wins
- 21 podiums,
- World Championship bronze
- Paralympic Games, 5th.
Kate is the proud mother of two young children, Henrik 4, and Sofie 7 months.
Kate's performances in triathlon are particularly notable given Kate's background in para equestrian, including the World Equestrian Games in 2010.
While equestrian and triathlon share few commonalities, Kate's competitive instinct and motivation to improve are ever present. It was the devastating and sudden passing of her mum, Vicki, that first inspired Kate to transition from Para-equestrian to Para-triathlon in 2014.
An ambition born from personal loss, her mother's memory remains a driving force for Kate as she continues to build her reputation as one of the best Para-triathletes in the world. Kate returned to the paratriathlon circuit just six months after son, Henrik was born in 2018.
Three months out of Tokyo Paralympics, then COVID hit. With her family’s wellbeing priority, the postponement of the Games meant Kate made the hard decision to step away from competing. In October 22 Kate and her husband proudly welcomed a healthy baby girl, Sofie.
Kate returned to racing in February 2023, but time away due to family means Kate needs to fund travel to race internationally. Racing provides valuable world ranking points and ensures allocations Paris qualification races commencing July 2023, as well as a solid world ranking position for qualification for Paris 2024 Games.
